Fluorescein Angiography (FA)

Fluorescein angiography is a dye-based imaging technique used to evaluate blood flow

in the retina. A fluorescent dye (fluorescein) is injected into a vein, and images are

taken as the dye moves through the retinal blood vessels. This imaging method is used

to diagnose:

  • Diabetic retinopathy
  • Macular degeneration
  • Retinal vein occlusions
  • Choroidal neovascularization
  • Age-related Macular Degeneration

Fluorescein angiography is essential for detecting leakage, blockages, and abnormal

blood vessel growth, which can help guide treatment decisions and help clinicians

determine different diseases.
